About the Course

Molecular modeling and computer visualization have become an indispensable tool of science; a tool that is profoundly changing medicine and drug discovery. This course will provide students with hands-on experience dealing with three dimensional visualizations of molecules rendered on five silicon graphics workstations. Students are encouraged to study molecules of their own interest and to explore three dimensional information on the internet. Classroom instruction will concentrate on how to use the graphics workstations, how to run software designed to model chemical and biochemical molecules, and how to capture images to make movies and presentations. Students will complete homework and one oral term project.
