Beaney begins his fifth year as head coach of the Panther golf team and his 13th year at the helm of the Panther men's hockey program. His strong coaching abilities have developed the Middlebury golf team into one of the top teams in the region.

Beaney also finished his 14th year at the helm of the Panther men's hockey program. He has led the team to six consecutive NCAA Tournaments, winning an NCAA record-breaking five straight (95-'99), with an ECAC Championship in '91.

He began his hockey coaching career in 1974 at Bellows Free Academy (Vt.), leading his teams to three straight championships. He then moved to the college ranks, taking over the reigns at New England College in 1977. He promptly led his teams to four consecutive ECAC playoffs and one NCAA berth with a 96-75-0 record over seven years.

He was named the Division II and III New England coach of the year in 1982, 1984, 1989, and 1995. In 1990 and 1995 he was named the Division III national coach of the year.

The Lake Placid, New York, native attended the University of New Hampshire, where he played four years of varsity hockey and captained the 1973 team.

GOLF PRO: Jim DaytonDayton joined the coaching staff in the spring of 1998 and will begin his third year with the Panther golf team. A Middlebury native, Dayton is a member of the PGA. He has held Head Professional positions in Idaho, Utah and California before returning to Middlebury and has been influential in helping the team return to top form.
