Now in his 29th year at Middlebury, Aldrich continues to lead the men's and women's cross-country teams. His teams have won numerous state, conference, ECAC, NCAA regional and two national championships. During his tenure at Middlebury he has coached 19 cross-country All-Americans. After the 2001 season in which the women won the NCAA Division III National Championships, Aldrich was named the NESCAC, New England, and National Coach of the Year. In addition to his cross country duties, he serves as director of the nordic ski program.

A 1968 graduate of St. Lawrence University, he was an outstanding scholar-athlete, serving as captain of the ski, track, and soccer teams. Shortly after graduation he earned a berth on both the national nordic team and the Olympic biathlon training squad and competed in the 1970 and 1971 World Championships. Aldrich came to Middlebury from the University of New Hampshire, where, as ski coach for three years, he turned the Wildcats into top contenders.
