Diane Boettcher joined the Middlebury College coaching staff in 1998, serving as head coach of the women's soccer and softball teams. She played both sports at the University of Vermont, serving as the soccer team's captain.

Boettcher began coaching collegiate soccer at Bates College, initiating the program. In nine years, the program developed to recognition among the nation's top ranked NCAA III teams and made three ECAC Championship appearances, while capturing the '86 title. She was recognized as the first NCAA Division III women's soccer National Coach of the Year.

Moving to the ranks of NCAA Division I, the inaugural women's soccer team at Davidson College became the next challenge. In two years, the program rose to a #9 ranking in NCAA I South.

Returning to Maine to coach women's soccer at the University of Maine and serve as State Coach for the Maine affiliate of the U. S. Soccer Federation, Boettcher moved the University's team into Division I competition and helped strengthen player development in the state. In Maine, she also taught and coached at the scholastic level earning SMAA Girl's Soccer Coach of the Year honors in 1996.

A professional physical educator, she holds a Master's degree from East Stroudsburg University. Her background includes certificates from the Royal Dutch Soccer Federation (KNVB) course for international coaches, and the national coaching academies of U.S. Soccer and the National Soccer Coaches Assn. of America. Presently, she also serves on the California Youth Soccer Association- North instructional staff.
